About the Owner
My name is Hasene and I am the owner and Administrator of the day care. I have been a member of the Bay Ridge community for over 20 years. I am also a wife and mother of 2 adult children. After years of working in the business world, I finally decided to do what I have always wanted to do and that is caring for children in my own Day Care. I opened the first program in April 2007. I started as the primary caregiver to all the children but as the number of children grew, I hired assistants. After a successful 2 years on one level, I decided to expand. I obtained a license to open another additional center in my home.
About the Programs
Our typical day starts at 7:30am with activities such as free play, structured play, circle time and/or singing songs. Breakfast starts at 9:00am. Most children arrive prior to breakfast being served. For late arrivals, it is suggested that the child be given breakfast before arriving. Weather permitting the children are taken outdoors twice daily. The children are taken to the nearby kiddy park, neighborhood walks or to the library for story time. Our usual playground is Shore Road Park located ¼ of a block away. The kiddy park is located off the street level, where you can find lots of trees, grass and an ocean view. On occasion we take the children to the other park (Ft Hamilton) for a change of scenery and park equipment. *** In the summer, the children must bring in their bathing suits and towels for splashing in the sprinklers. We may have a picnic lunch at the park for added fun*** We go on nature walks in the neighborhood as well as the library from time to time.
We return to the day care by 11:30am in order to prepare for lunch. Hand washing, potty time and toileting are all important deeds our kids learn and do before and after each meal. Lunch is served promptly at 12:00pm followed by clean-up and preparation for story time at 12:30pm. Nap time is at 1:00pm with the exception of infants, who are usually on their own schedule for feeding, changing and sleeping. Nap time is followed by putting on shoes, potty/toileting time, diaper changing and hand washing. Afternoon snacks are served at 4:00pm followed by free play until 5:00pm while the assistants set up for the afternoon program.
During the summer months we take the children out for the afternoon. Snacks are served at the park. We return to the Day Care by 5:30pm where we continue with afternoon crafts, circle time, singing songs, story time, while the children are prepared for pick up.
Day Care hours end promptly at 6:30pm. Children must be picked up on time. In the event of late pick-up (late pick-ups are not encouraged), there will be an additional per minute charge.
Our Staff
Our staff is registered, fingerprinted and background checked by the State of New York. They are all trained according to the regulations designated by the State. Training is acquired through different centers authorized by the State, as well as mandated training centers run by the state. All staff receives at least 15 hours of training per year on childcare and other related topics. Our staff is also trained in CPR and First Aid. The number of staff we have is in accordance with the regulations set up by the state. Each staff member has their own special qualities, as well as, being responsible, caring and loving.
